FENTANYL – REQUIRED 4 DOSES OF NALOXONE
December 11, 2021 – Halifax, NS
ReFix Overdose Prevention Site located in North End Halifax, NS witnessed and responded to two accidental fentanyl poisonings recently.
On Wednesday, December 8 intravenous fentanyl use caused an accidental drug poisoning and required 3 IM injections of Naloxone and 1 intranasal Naloxone dose to reverse it’s toxic effects.
On Thursday, December 9 intravenous purple fentanyl use caused an accidental drug poisoning and required 2 IM injections of Naloxone and 2 intranasal Naloxone doses to reverse it’s toxic effects.
The large amount of Naloxone required in both cases suggests the unregulated drug supply is increasingly toxic. Please check out our Safer Drug Use page and Overdose Prevention page to learn how to use as safely as possible.
