TAINTED XANAX Bar suspected of opioid poisoning

June 29, 2023 – Halifax, NS

This report came from a health care facility where an individual was treated for a suspected opioid poisoning.

On June 27th in Halifax, a substance assumed to be a Xanax Bar caused a suspected drug poisoning. There is no description of the drug or its packaging or how the drug was used. The individual received CPR and 2 doses of naloxone. Suspected opioid-induced respiratory arrest given the rapid and profound respiratory depression. The individual recovered and left the health care facility.
